Sega Master System
Sega Master System was 8-bit game console of video game company Sega. It competed with the 8-bit Nintendo of the video game market in the 1980s.
Master System was released a year later than the Nintendo Entertainment System and so it was way behind the sales figures of Nintendo. The technical properties of the two systems were at the same level. In some countries, Master System, however, did achieve some kind of success. Part of Master System games like Alex Kidd, have the reputation of a classic. In earlier times the big eared Alex Kidd was Sega\'s mascot, but it was not a challenger to Marion and was later displaced by Sonic as the mascot of Sega.
There were improved models of Master System at the 1990s and the Master System II brought a little more money in Japan and Europe but was not a success in United States.
Master System gained perhaps the longest lasting popularity in Brazil where the local versions of games were made still in the late 1990s.
